Schofield Cobble is a rocky outcropping and viewpoint on the southern slope of Mount Marcy in the Eastern High Peaks Wilderness of the Adirondacks in New York. Summiting Marcy overtop of the cobble is considered the steeper approach to the top in contrast to the northern approach via the Van Hoevenberg Trail. It sits at an elevation of 4,744 ft with 0 ft of prominence. It offers views of Skylight immediately to the south with Marcy’s steep slope imposing to the North. 

Name

It was named for Peter “P.F.” Schofield who was an author and member of the New York Board of Trade and Transportation and had a role in creating forestry laws in 1885. He participated in the drafting of legislation that protected state land from being logged or leased.
