The Prediger Road Trailhead is a trailhead at Prediger Road, located in the Indian Head Wilderness of the Catskill Mountains of New York. It is the starting point at the western end of the Devil's Path, one of the most popular and strenuous hiking trails in the area.

Popular Routes

This road is used to access a number of popular hikes in the area. Overlook Mountain, which is the site of the ruins of the Overlook Mountain House can be accessed from here via the Overlook Turnpike Primitive Bicycle Corridor. Another destination along that trail is Echo Lake, which is one of the few lakes in the Catskills that has designated backcountry campsites, and for that reason gets a lot of traffic. Codfish Quarry is another lookout and viewpoint along this trail that can be accessed from here. Indian Head is one of the most popular of the Catskill 3500 peaks, and can be combined with Twin for a two-peak loop. Typically the Devil's Path West Traverse, including Twin, Indian Head, Sugarloaf, and Plateau Mountains would be started from this trailhead, or the entire thing can be started here.

Parking and Access

This trailhead is a short detour off of route 16 and is technically not far from the town of Tannersville and the larger city of Saugerties. Parking accommodations here are moderate with a few dozen cars able to park here.
