Grace Hudawalski was a hiking enthusiast and one of the original Adirondack 46ers. She is the first recorded woman to climb all 46 high peaks in the Adirondack Wilderness of New York. Together with her husband, she co-founded the Forty-Sixers of Troy in 1937, which would later become the current day Adirondack 46ers organization. She served as the primary correspondence between aspirants and the club and would famously read and respond to ever letter submitted by aspirants about their journeys climbing the peaks. She later would go to be the historian and first president of the club. East Dix was later renamed to Grace Peak to honor her.
