An Adirondack 46er is an individual who has climbed all 46 high peaks of in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. (For the organization known as the Adirondack 46ers, read the entry here.) As of 2023, there are over 14,000 Adirondack 46ers, with the number continuing to climb every year. 46ers can go on to become Winter 46ers, as well as ADK 46 Gridders.
The Peaks
The list of peaks required comprises all of the mountains above 4,000 ft. elevation as well a few that are just below, which were improperly measured but are left in to honor the history of the club. As per other northeast peak bagging organizations, the mountain must also have a certain amount of prominence and distance away from another peak, however, the exact criteria is debated amongst the hiking community.
